LCTech’s SMART-IAC columns are based on a compact column design for immunoaffinity-based sample purification. Compared to conventional IAC columns with a 3 mL capacity, both the required sample volume of the matrix and the consumption of solvents are reduced. This allows sample preparation to be carried out with lower resource requirements. Due to the reduced column volume, the overall processing time of the method is shortened, allowing sample series to be processed more efficiently. This is particularly advantageous in analytical applications with high sample throughput. In addition, the SMART series features standardised Luer connectors, allowing multiple SMART-IAC columns to be connected in series. This enables different immunoaffinity-based selectivities to be combined in a single sample preparation step, making it possible to purify different mycotoxins in parallel within a single workflow.
The reduction in the volume of matrix and solvent used does not impair recovery rates. Following sample preparation in accordance with the LCTech protocol, the mycotoxins are obtained in a ready-to-inject form and at a concentration comparable to that of conventional 3-mL IAC purification. The sensitivity of the subsequent HPLC analysis remains unchanged, whilst the total processing time is reduced to a quarter of the original time.
