Sustainability at MZ

As a family business, we take responsibility for the next generations. Our company is geared towards the long term with a great awareness of sustainable, responsible behaviour. Our focus is not only on climate protection and resource conservation, but also on treating our employees, customers and partners with respect and honesty.

We take a holistic approach to sustainability - it characterises our daily decisions in all areas of the company. Whether through environmentally friendly processes, fair co-operation or the use of renewable energies: We want to show that economic success and ecological as well as social commitment go hand in hand.

Our refill service conserves resources and reduces waste. Our customers have the option of returning used HPLC columns to us. After reprocessing, we use the HPLC column hardware to produce new columns. The performance of new columns is no different to that of refill columns. Customers even benefit from more favourable prices, as refill columns are on average around EUR 30.00 cheaper than new columns. The MZ refill service can be carried out with MZ HPLC columns, LichroCART and other compatible hardware. Please enquire whether your old columns can also be used for the refill service.

We maintain customer depots with used HPLC and UHPLC columns for more than 100 customers. Customers can return their used chromatography columns to us. We keep columns that are suitable for the refill service in a specially created customer depot. For new orders, we offer the option of using hardware from the customer depot. This allows the HPLC columns to be recycled and costs to be saved. We dispose of used chromatography columns that can no longer be used by us free of charge for our customers.

As HPLC and GPC column experts, we support customers in making their analyses sustainable. Last but not least, MZ-Analysentechnik GmbH started producing HPLC columns with small internal diameters back in the 1980s and initiated the idea of sustainability and resource conservation at an early stage. In addition to green chromatography, efficient fused-core technology, the right choice of columns and equipment, chromatography offers a wealth of opportunities to make analysis more sustainable. We create habitats for people and nature on our company premises: insect-friendly flowering meadows replace conventional lawns, and fruit trees provide fruit and shade for employees.

We assume social responsibility through respectful and open co-operation. Discrimination has no place at our company - our Code of Conduct stands for fairness, equal treatment and mutual respect.

We also act sustainably when it comes to energy supply. Our combined heat and power plant (CHP) utilises renewable energy sources to provide heat and electricity efficiently and reduce CO₂ emissions.

We avoid paper and resources through consistent digitalisation: we send invoices as e-invoices as standard. Business documents are preferably processed and archived digitally.

We also focus on sustainability in logistics. Most of our packaging is made from recycled material. We bundle deliveries and orders to reduce transport routes and lower emissions.
