SecurityGuard

SecurityGuard from Phenomenex is a pre-column cartridge system designed to protect chromatographic separation columns from particles and chemical contaminants in samples and mobile phases. The replaceable cartridges are fitted upstream of the separation column and retain interfering components. This helps to extend column life and reduce the risk of pressure build-up, peak broadening and reduced separation performance.

Several versions are available to meet different requirements: SecurityGuard Standard protects conventional HPLC columns, whilst SecurityGuard ULTRA is specifically designed for UHPLC and core-shell columns. Its low dead volume minimises additional peak broadening and helps maintain chromatographic efficiency. SecurityGuard PREP complements the range, providing protection for preparative columns during the purification of larger sample volumes.

The system combines a reusable holder with interchangeable pre-column cartridges and is compatible with columns from many manufacturers. To ensure effective protection, the cartridge chemistry, format and pressure resistance are tailored to the specific separation column and method.
