The ICSep USP L17 HPLC column (250 × 4.0 mm, 8 µm) is a polymer-based H+ phase designed for methods requiring USP L17-like selectivity. ICSep USP L17 is used for organic acids, alcohols and sugar-related compounds when a corresponding column type is required for regulatory or methodological reasons. Typical applications include pharmaceutical quality control, food analysis and fermentation analysis.
The ICSep series is based on polystyrene-divinylbenzene polymers. Fully sulfonated PS/DVB materials are used for ion exclusion of organic acids and alcohols. For organic and inorganic ions, functionalized, macroporous PS/DVB resins are used, for example, with quaternary ammonium groups for anion exchange or with sulfonic acid or carboxyl groups for cation exchange. The polymer backbone makes ICSep particularly suitable for aqueous, ionic matrices; appropriate pre-columns protect the main column from particles and matrix contaminants.
