The Avantor ACE HILIC-B Vorsäulenkartuschen 2.1-3.0mm, µm, are used for column protection of Avantor ACE HILIC-B HPLC and UHPLC columns with an internal diameter of 2.1-3.0mm are used. They protect the analytical HILIC column from sample matrix and particulate contaminants. For a reproducible HILIC method the guard cartridge should be used with the same HILIC phase as the main column; the appropriate guard holder H0011 is used as the guard holder.

In contrast to reverse-phase chromatography, retention in HILIC is typically determined by a water-rich layer on the polar stationary phase and mobile phases with a high organic content.
