IEC DEAE-LG 50x8mm Ion Exchange Preparative Column

The Shodex IEC DEAE-LG Guard Column 50x8.0mm, 20µm, is packed with a polyhydroxymethacrylate gel with diethylaminoethyl groups as a weak anion exchanger. As a phase-identical guard column it protects preparative DEAE columns from particles and strongly bound sample components. Shodex IEC DEAE-LG is connected as a prepacked Guard Column directly in front of the main column; a separate cartridge holder is not required.

Additional Notes

The IEX Series combines polyhydroxymethacrylate, polyvinyl alcohol, and styrene-divinylbenzene frameworks. Quaternary ammonium and sulfopropyl groups act as strong ion exchangers, while DEAE and carboxymethyl groups act as weak ion exchangers. Large-pore packing improves access for proteins and nucleic acids, while nonporous particles offer particularly short transport paths. The choice of phase depends on net charge, isoelectric point, molecular size, and the desired elution strategy.
