Product Description

The Shodex IEC SP-825 HPLC column 75x8.0mm, 8µm, combines a macroporous polyhydroxymethacrylate gel with sulfopropyl groups as a strong cation exchanger. Positively charged proteins and peptides are retained by stable strong cation-exchange interactions. The 5,000Å pores enable access of large biomolecules to the ligand. Typical applications of the Shodex IEC SP-825 are basic proteins, peptides, enzymes and charge variants.

Features and Benefits

  • Strong and weak ion exchangers
  • Anion and cation phases
  • Large-pore materials for biomolecules
  • Non-porous option for rapid separations
  • Hydrophilic polymer backbones

Additional Notes

The IEX Series combines polyhydroxymethacrylate, polyvinyl alcohol, and styrene-divinylbenzene frameworks. Quaternary ammonium and sulfopropyl groups act as strong ion exchangers, while DEAE and carboxymethyl groups act as weak ion exchangers. Large-pore packing improves access for proteins and nucleic acids, while nonporous particles offer particularly short transport paths. The choice of phase depends on net charge, isoelectric point, molecular size, and the desired elution strategy.

Legal Information

Shodex is a registered trademark of Resonac Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. The IEX Series is a product line within the Shodex portfolio.
