The HALO 160 Å Phenyl-Hexyl HPLC column 100x3.0mm, 2.7µm, consists of a phenyl group bound to a core-shell particle via a hexyl linker. This allows the phase to be used in reverse-phase chromatography. The phenyl groups can form dipole-dipole, π-π, and hydrophobic interactions via the linker, resulting in different selectivities compared to C18 phases. The larger pore size of 160 Å allows the HALO 160 Å Phenyl-Hexyl to be used in the analysis of, for example, tryptic digests, post-translational modifications (PTMs), or polypeptides.
The HALO Bioclass series is based on a core-shell material. This means that the particles have a non-porous core and a porous shell. This allows for high efficiency while maintaining low backpressure. As a result, UHPLC performance is possible using a standard HPLC system. Compared to the HALO series, the HALO Bioclass series features larger pores (160 Å, 400 Å, and 1,000 Å). This allows biological samples—ranging from small peptides to proteins and antibodies—to be analyzed using core-shell technology. The service life can be extended by using appropriate precolumn cartridges.
