The ProteoSil 100-C18 HPLC column 75x4.6mm, 3µm, is based on an octadecylsilyl modification (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18) on high-purity silica with a pore size of 100 Å. The C18 phase is used in reverse-phase chromatography and is designed for smaller proteins and peptides, as well as oligonucleotides and nucleic acids with a molecular weight below approximately 5,000 Da. Thanks to its 100 Å pores, ProteoSil 100-C18 provides a large surface area and good retention for low-molecular-weight peptides. Typical applications include peptide analysis, LC/MS methods, protein digests, and bioanalytics, where classic C18 selectivity combined with high inertness and robust peak shape is required.
The ProteoSil series is designed for bioseparations in which pore size, modification, and hardware must be specifically tailored to sensitive biomolecules. It is based on a high-purity silica matrix with pore sizes of 100 Ã…, 200 Ã…, or 300 Ã…. Smaller pores are particularly suitable for low-molecular-weight peptides, while 200 Ã… materials are used for medium-sized peptides and oligonucleotides. For larger proteins, hydrophobic peptides, and antibodies, 300 Ã… materials are available. In addition, ProteoSil HILIC and ProteoSil SEC round out the series for hydrophilic analytes and size-based separations. Using appropriate ProteoSil pre-column cartridges or guard columns, the analytical column can be protected from particles, strongly adsorbing sample components, and matrix carryover.
