ProteoSil 300-C8 Analytical Column 5um, 4.6x50mm HPLC Column

The ProteoSil 300-C8 HPLC column 50x4.6mm, 5µm, uses a C8 modification on a 300 Å silica backbone. The ProteoSil 300-C8 is designed for large proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, and nucleic acids. The C8 surface exhibits moderate hydrophobicity, and its retention properties fall between those of more hydrophobic C18 phases and less retentive C4 phases. As a result, it can provide a different selectivity for proteins and hydrophobic peptides. This phase is used when large biomolecules are to be separated in reverse-phase chromatography, but C18 retards them too strongly and C4 too weakly.

The ProteoSil series is designed for bioseparations in which pore size, modification, and hardware must be specifically tailored to sensitive biomolecules. It is based on a high-purity silica matrix with pore sizes of 100 Å, 200 Å, or 300 Å. Smaller pores are particularly suitable for low-molecular-weight peptides, while 200 Å materials are used for medium-sized peptides and oligonucleotides. For larger proteins, hydrophobic peptides, and antibodies, 300 Å materials are available. In addition, ProteoSil HILIC and ProteoSil SEC round out the series for hydrophilic analytes and size-based separations. Using appropriate ProteoSil pre-column cartridges or guard columns, the analytical column can be protected from particles, strongly adsorbing sample components, and matrix carryover.
