The Inertsil SIL-150A HPLC column 250x6.0mm, 5µm, is a pure silica phase with a larger pore size for normal-phase chromatography. Inertsil SIL-150A is used when classic silica selectivity is desired, but the pore structure needs to be better suited to slightly larger or more interactive molecules. Typical applications include polar organic compounds, lipids, natural products, preparative purifications, isomer separations, and normal-phase methods in pharmaceutical and chemical analysis.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
