The SUGAR KS-2004 preparative HPLC column 300x20mm, 18µm, consists of a sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene resin with sulfonic acid groups in sodium form. The wide-pore selectivity of SUGAR KS-2004 corresponds to the analytical KS-804; the nominal exclusion limit is about 400,000 Da for pullulan. The preparative format supports the fractionation of polysaccharides and higher-molecular-weight carbohydrates at larger sample loadings.
The SUGAR product family is based on sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene resins with defined counterions such as calcium, lead, sodium, zinc, or hydrogen. The counterion controls ligand exchange with hydroxyl groups, while pore size and polymer crosslinking determine the size-exclusion component. Columns in the hydrogen form additionally enable ion exclusion for organic acids. Since selectivity depends heavily on temperature, counterion, and water quality, the recommended operating conditions should be strictly adhered to.
