The Waters µBondapak Cyano HPLC column 150x3.9mm, 10µm, is based on irregular silica and has a cyanopropyl modification. Chromatographically the Waters µBondapak Cyano is intended for use in normal-phase and reversed-phase chromatography. The cyano phase complements µBondapak C18 through dipolar interactions and reduced hydrophobicity. Applications of the Waters µBondapak Cyano include polar small molecules, method development, normal-phase methods and historical validations.
µBondapak is a classic Waters HPLC platform based on fully porous 125-Å silica with 10-µm particles. The product family includes bonded C18, cyano, phenyl, and amino phases, covering reverse-phase, normal-phase, and polar selectivities. Due to its long history on the market, the original µBondapak selectivity is well-established in numerous pharmacopoeia, literature, and in-house methods. When transferring methods, selections should therefore be based not only on USP class but also on particle type, bonding chemistry, and historical column format.
