The Waters Spherisorb C6 HPLC column 250x10mm, 5µm, is based on spherical silica and features a hexyl modification. The Waters Spherisorb C6 is used in reversed-phase chromatography. The C6 chain has hydrophobicity between C1 and C8 and provides a graduated alkyl selectivity. The application spectrum of the Waters Spherisorb C6 includes selectivity screening, hydrophobic small molecules and optimisation of classical RP methods.
The Spherisorb series is based on mechanically robust silica with a pore size of 80 Å and is available in several particle sizes. ODS1 has a lower ligand density and lower carbon loading, while ODS2 offers a more densely packed, end-capped C18 surface. The series is complemented by short alkyl chains, cyano, phenyl, amino, and silica phases, as well as strong anion- and cation-exchange phases. This allows for the coverage of a wide range of classical HPLC methods using a silica base that is consistent across the product family.
