The MZ-Aqua Perfect C18 250x4.6mm, 5µm, is an octadecylsilyl phase (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) with additional hydrophilic end-capping for reverse-phase chromatography. The hydrophilic end-capping allows for use in 100% aqueous mobile phases. In addition to hydrophobic interactions, polar interactions with these hydrophilic groups are also possible. As a result, the selectivity of the MZ-Aqua Perfect C18 can differ significantly from that of other C18 phases. This phase can retain highly polar compounds that are not retained on other C18 phases. The phase can be used, for example, for the analysis of water-soluble vitamins, tricyclic antidepressants, theophylline, catecholamines, caffeine, or organic acids.
The MZ-Aqua Perfect series features a C18 modification with a hydrophilic end-capping. This hydrophilic end-capping prevents the dewetting effect and allows these columns to be used in 100% aqueous mobile phases. This enables the retention of highly polar compounds. The service life can be extended by using appropriate pre-column cartridges.
