The Kromasil 100 C4 HPLC column 50x20mm, 16µm, is based on a butyl modification on 100 Å silica. The C4 phase offers weaker hydrophobic retention than C8 or C18 phases and is used in reversed-phase chromatography. Kromasil 100 C4 is suitable for analytes that are excessively retarded or show broadened peaks on more hydrophobic phases. Typical applications include peptides, smaller proteins, highly hydrophobic APIs, fast RP methods, method development and separations with reduced retention time.
The Kromasil series is based on highly stable, spherical, and fully porous silica particles. The silica matrix combines a high surface area, high pore volume, and a controlled pore structure with a narrow particle size distribution. This supports efficient packing beds, low pressure drops relative to performance, and good column and batch reproducibility. The Kromasil platform offers different pore sizes: 60 Ã… for small organic molecules, 100 Ã… for small molecules and peptides, and 300 Ã… for proteins and larger biomolecules. Appropriate Kromasil pre-column cartridges can be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles, sample matrix, and hard-to-elute components.
Kromasil is a registered trademark of the manufacturer Nouryon, Bohus, Sweden.
