The Kromasil 100 C18(w) HPLC column 250x20mm, 10µm, is a wettable octadecyl phase (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18) on 100 Å silica with polar embedded endcapping. The C18(w) surface has been developed for strongly aqueous conditions and can provide stable retention of polar compounds even with a 100% aqueous mobile phase. Kromasil 100 C18(w) is used in reversed-phase chromatography and offers an alternative selectivity to classic C18. Typical applications include organic acids, water-soluble active substances, polar metabolites, peptides, API analysis and samples analysed directly from aqueous matrices.
The Kromasil series is based on highly stable, spherical, and fully porous silica particles. The silica matrix combines a high surface area, high pore volume, and a controlled pore structure with a narrow particle size distribution. This supports efficient packing beds, low pressure drops relative to performance, and good column and batch reproducibility. The Kromasil platform offers different pore sizes: 60 Ã… for small organic molecules, 100 Ã… for small molecules and peptides, and 300 Ã… for proteins and larger biomolecules. Appropriate Kromasil pre-column cartridges can be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles, sample matrix, and hard-to-elute components.
Kromasil is a registered trademark of the manufacturer Nouryon, Bohus, Sweden.
