The Kromasil 100 C8 HPLC column 150x4.6mm, 5µm, is based on an octyl phase (also known as RP-8, C8) on 100 Å silica. Compared with C18 phases, the C8 phase offers lower hydrophobic retention and can therefore enable shorter run times or altered selectivity. Kromasil 100 C8 is used in reversed-phase chromatography for small molecules, peptides and moderately polar to hydrophobic compounds. Typical applications include pharmaceutical analysis, API and impurity analysis, food analysis, environmental analysis, method acceleration and routine RP-HPLC.
The Kromasil series is based on highly stable, spherical, and fully porous silica particles. The silica matrix combines a high surface area, high pore volume, and a controlled pore structure with a narrow particle size distribution. This supports efficient packing beds, low pressure drops relative to performance, and good column and batch reproducibility. The Kromasil platform offers different pore sizes: 60 Ã… for small organic molecules, 100 Ã… for small molecules and peptides, and 300 Ã… for proteins and larger biomolecules. Appropriate Kromasil pre-column cartridges can be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles, sample matrix, and hard-to-elute components.
Kromasil is a registered trademark of the manufacturer Nouryon, Bohus, Sweden.
