The ICSep CA-1 Carbonate HPLC column (250 × 7.8 mm) is a polymer-based column for the analysis of carbonates and organic acids under ion chromatography conditions. ICSep CA-1 is based on styrene-divinylbenzene and is typically used with conductivity-based detection. The phase is suitable for aqueous samples in which carbonates, related inorganic components or low-molecular-weight organic acids are to be determined. Typical applications for the ICSep CA-1 include water analysis, beverage analysis, process control and the monitoring of simple inorganic or organic acid profiles in aqueous matrices.
The ICSep series is based on polystyrene-divinylbenzene polymers. Fully sulfonated PS/DVB materials are used for ion exclusion of organic acids and alcohols. For organic and inorganic ions, functionalized, macroporous PS/DVB resins are used, for example, with quaternary ammonium groups for anion exchange or with sulfonic acid or carboxyl groups for cation exchange. The polymer backbone makes ICSep particularly suitable for aqueous, ionic matrices; appropriate pre-columns protect the main column from particles and matrix contaminants.
ICSep is a registered trademark of the manufacturer Concise Separations, San Jose, USA.
