The Kromasil SFC Diol column 50x4.6mm, 2.5µm, contains a trifunctional diol modification on spherical 100 Å silica. The diol surface can form hydrogen bonds and exhibits a less strongly adsorptive but distinctly polar selectivity. Kromasil SFC Diol is therefore particularly suitable for SFC methods where silica causes excessive retention or cyano yields a different elution order. Typical applications are polar small molecules, phenolic compounds, bases, natural products, pharmaceutical intermediates and SFC screenings with alternative polar selectivity.
The Kromasil SFC series is based on spherical, fully porous Kromasil silica with a pore size of 100 Ã…. The series is designed for supercritical fluid chromatography and includes the SIL, CN, Diol, 2EP, and XT modifications. This selection allows for SFC screening ranging from unmodified silica through polar diol and cyano phases to 2-ethylpyridine and XT. Thanks to the high mechanical stability of the Kromasil base material, Kromasil SFC can be used for both rapid analytical methods and for scale-up and preparative SFC separations. Matching Kromasil SFC pre-column cartridges protect the packing bed from particles, sample matrix, and heavily retained impurities.
