Product Description

The Shodex IC YS-50 ion chromatography column 125x4.6mm, 5µm, contains carboxyl groups on a polyvinyl alcohol matrix. The Shodex IC YS-50 can be operated either suppressed or non-suppressed depending on the method and separates mono- and divalent cations, ammonium, alkylamines and selected transition metals. The selectivity, for example, allows the determination of small amounts of ammonium in the presence of high sodium concentrations.

Features and Benefits

  • Anion and cation exchangers
  • Suppressed and non-suppressed IC
  • Fast and highly sensitive versions
  • Special selectivities for oxyhalides
  • Robust polymer and silica packings

Additional Information

The IC Series primarily consists of polymer-based ion exchangers with polyvinyl alcohol or polymethacrylate backbones, as well as YK-421, a silica-based cation exchange phase. Quaternary ammonium groups provide strong anion exchange selectivity, while carboxyl groups are used for cation separation. Particle size, exchange capacity, and surface chemistry are optimized for carbonate, hydroxide, or non-suppressed eluent systems, depending on the column.

Legal Information

Shodex is a registered trademark of Resonac Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. The IC Series is a product line within the Shodex portfolio.
