The Avantor ACE C18-Amide HPLC column 150x2.1mm, 2µm is based on an octadecylsilyl modification (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18) with an embedded polar amide group for reversed-phase chromatography. The Avantor ACE C18-Amide combines hydrophobic C18 retention with additional polar interactions and is therefore particularly interesting for polar substituted aromatics and compounds with hydrogen-bonding potential. The phase can also be used under strongly aqueous conditions and extends selectivity compared with classical alkyl phases. Typical applications include phenols, antioxidants, pesticides, caffeine, sweeteners, preservatives, vitamins as well as food and environmental analysis.
The Avantor ACE Series is based on high-purity, spherical silica with very low metal contamination and targeted base deactivation. Controlled surface chemistry reduces the activity of free silanol groups, which promotes symmetrical peaks and reproducible retention times, particularly for basic analytes. The portfolio includes classic fully porous 100 Å phases, alternative selectivities, and 300 Å wide-pore materials for larger molecules. Using compatible Avantor ACE guard cartridges protects the silica backbone of the analytical column from matrix components and can extend the column’s service life.
