The ICSep CN3 HPLC column (40 × 4.6 mm) is a polymer-based cation-exchange column designed for the ion chromatography of metal ions. ICSep CN3 features a high-capacity material and is particularly suitable for divalent cations. The phase is used, amongst other things, for alkaline-earth metals and selected transition metals in water, environmental and process samples. Thanks to its short column format and solvent-compatible PS/DVB base, ICSep CN3 can be used for rapid metal analyses where cation-selective separation with a robust polymer matrix is required.
The ICSep series is based on polystyrene-divinylbenzene polymers. Fully sulfonated PS/DVB materials are used for ion exclusion of organic acids and alcohols. For organic and inorganic ions, functionalized, macroporous PS/DVB resins are used, for example, with quaternary ammonium groups for anion exchange or with sulfonic acid or carboxyl groups for cation exchange. The polymer backbone makes ICSep particularly suitable for aqueous, ionic matrices; appropriate pre-columns protect the main column from particles and matrix contaminants.
ICSep is a registered trademark of the manufacturer Concise Separations, San Jose, USA.
