The Avantor ACE UltraCore SuperPhenylHexyl HPLC-/UHPLC column 150x4.6mm, 2.5µm, uses a phenylhexyl modification on solid-core silica for reversed-phase chromatography. The Avantor ACE UltraCore SuperPhenylHexyl combines hydrophobic retention with aromatic and π-π interactions and additionally offers the efficiency advantages of core-shell technology. The phase is particularly useful when C18 selectivity is insufficient or when aromatic structural elements are to be specifically exploited. Typical applications are catecholamines, water-soluble vitamins, natural and artificial flavourings, metabolite profiles and substituted aromatics.
The Avantor ACE UltraCore series uses spherical silica particles with a non-porous core and a porous outer layer. This solid-core architecture reduces diffusion paths and enables high separation efficiencies while maintaining low backpressure. The surface of the silica particles is designed to minimize unwanted silanol activity, which promotes symmetrical peaks and robust retention times. By using compatible UltraCore guard cartridges, the analytical column can be protected from matrix interference without altering the selective chemistry of the main column.
