The Avantor ACE Phenyl-300 HPLC column 150x3.0mm, 3µm, combines a phenyl modification with 300 Å pores for reversed-phase chromatography of larger molecules. The Avantor ACE Phenyl-300 offers aromatic and π-π interactions on a wide-pore structure, enabling alternative selectivities compared with C18-300 and C8-300. The phase is of particular interest when biomolecules possess aromatic side chains or polarizable structures. Typical applications include proteins, peptides, tryptic digests, biomolecules with aromatic interactions and methods that require a different selectivity than alkyl wide-pore phases.
The Avantor ACE Series is based on high-purity, spherical silica with very low metal contamination and targeted base deactivation. Controlled surface chemistry reduces the activity of free silanol groups, which promotes symmetrical peaks and reproducible retention times, particularly for basic analytes. The portfolio includes classic fully porous 100 Å phases, alternative selectivities, and 300 Å wide-pore materials for larger molecules. Using compatible Avantor ACE guard cartridges protects the silica backbone of the analytical column from matrix components and can extend the column’s service life.
