The Avantor ACE CN HPLC column 250x4.6mm, 10µm, is a cyano phase with a short alkyl spacer and can be used in both normal-phase and reversed-phase chromatography. The Avantor ACE CN utilises dipole–dipole interactions and offers lower hydrophobicity than classical C18 phases. This provides alternative selectivities for polar molecules and compounds with double or triple bonds. Typical applications are nitroanilines, brompheniramine maleate, carbamic acid derivatives, methotrexate and methods where switching between normal phase and reversed phase is advantageous.
The Avantor ACE Series is based on high-purity, spherical silica with very low metal contamination and targeted base deactivation. Controlled surface chemistry reduces the activity of free silanol groups, which promotes symmetrical peaks and reproducible retention times, particularly for basic analytes. The portfolio includes classic fully porous 100 Å phases, alternative selectivities, and 300 Å wide-pore materials for larger molecules. Using compatible Avantor ACE guard cartridges protects the silica backbone of the analytical column from matrix components and can extend the column’s service life.
