The Avantor ACE Phenyl HPLC column 50x0.5mm, 2µm, features a phenyl group with a short propyl spacer for reversed-phase chromatography. The Avantor ACE Phenyl combines moderate hydrophobicity with aromatic selectivity and π–π interactions. This allows substituted aromatics, stereoisomers and analytes with phenyl or polarisable structures to be separated differently than on classical alkyl phases. Typical applications are parabens, flavonoids, steroids, taxanes, aromatic active substances, pharmaceutical impurities and food analysis.
The Avantor ACE Series is based on high-purity, spherical silica with very low metal contamination and targeted base deactivation. Controlled surface chemistry reduces the activity of free silanol groups, which promotes symmetrical peaks and reproducible retention times, particularly for basic analytes. The portfolio includes classic fully porous 100 Å phases, alternative selectivities, and 300 Å wide-pore materials for larger molecules. Using compatible Avantor ACE guard cartridges protects the silica backbone of the analytical column from matrix components and can extend the column’s service life.
