Product Description

The HALO Elevate Phenyl-Hexyl HPLC column 150x4.6mm, 5µm, is a phenyl phase deposited on a core-shell material using a hexyl linker. The core-shell material is also modified with organosilane compounds. This modification allows the HALO Elevate Phenyl-Hexyl to be used at pH values ranging from 2 to 12 and up to 60°C. This has the advantage that basic compounds remain neutral at high pH values and thus elute later and with a better peak shape. The improved peak shape also allows for a higher loading capacity of the HPLC column, which can be advantageous in the analysis of impurities. Compared to the HALO Elevate C18 and C8, the HALO Elevate Phenyl-Hexyl enables alternative selectivities through dipole-dipole and π-π interactions. This phase is useful for separations where a high pH is advantageous or where bases are to be analyzed. Example applications include antidepressants, cocaine, and triazoles.

Features and Benefits

  • Core-shell particles for fast methods
  • High pH stability (2–12 at 60°C) due to organosilane modification
  • UHPLC performance on HPLC systems
  • High efficiency
  • Low backpressure

Additional Information

The HALO Elevate series is based on a core-shell material. This means that the particles have a non-porous core and a porous shell. This allows for high efficiency while maintaining low backpressure. As a result, UHPLC performance is possible with a standard HPLC system. A special modification of the silica surface using organosilane compounds results in high pH stability ranging from 2 to 12 at 60°C. This wide pH range can be used to analyze basic compounds in their neutral, uncharged state, leading to better peak shapes and higher loading capacity for basic compounds. The service life can be extended by using appropriate precolumn cartridges.
