The Benson BP-800 H HPLC column (300 × 7.8 mm, 9 µm) is an H-shaped column based on a highly cross-linked styrene-divinylbenzene polymer. The Benson BP-800 H is used for organic acids and related fermentation components in ion-exclusion chromatography. Thanks to its higher degree of cross-linking, the phase offers robust retention and stable running conditions in acidic aqueous eluents. The Benson BP-800 H column is particularly suitable for routine methods in fermentation control, food analysis, process monitoring and the analysis of organic acids.
Benson columns are based on sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene polymers with various counterions and degrees of cross-linking. The BP-100 series is typically associated with 6% cross-linking, while the BP-700 and BP-800 series represent more highly cross-linked variants designed for different selectivity and robustness requirements. Depending on the counterion, sugars, sugar alcohols, organic acids, or alcoholic byproducts are separated. Calcium, lead, sodium, potassium, and silver forms are primarily used for carbohydrates; H forms are typically used for organic acids, fermentation products, and related ion-exclusion chromatography applications.
Benson is a brand name of the manufacturer Concise Separations, San Jose, USA.
