Product Description

The Supel Carbon LC HPLC/UHPLC column 50x4.6mm, 2.7µm, is based on porous graphitic carbon as the stationary phase. The Supel Carbon LC is used for reversed-phase-like, polarity-dependent and graphitic retention mechanisms and can strongly retain particularly polar or planar analytes. Typical applications of the Supel Carbon LC are polar metabolites, carbohydrates, organic acids, nucleotides, isomers, ionic compounds and methods where silica phases do not provide sufficient selectivity.

Performance Characteristics and Advantages

  • Porous graphitic carbon
  • Very wide pH range
  • High thermal stability
  • Strong retention of polar analytes
  • Selectivity comparable to silica phases

Additional Notes

Supel Carbon LC is not based on silica, but on porous graphitic carbon. The flat, graphitic surface can provide hydrophobic interactions, polarizable interactions, and the so-called PREG effect. As a result, even highly polar, ionic, or structurally similar molecules are often separated differently than on C18 or HILIC phases. Its high chemical and thermal stability makes Supel Carbon LC particularly attractive for demanding mobile phases and robust methods.
