The Discovery BIO Wide Pore C5 HPLC column 50x2.1mm, 3µm, features a short-chain alkyl-modified surface with a large pore structure. The Discovery BIO Wide Pore C5 offers weaker hydrophobic retention than C8 or C18 and can therefore be advantageous for larger or highly hydrophobic proteins. Typical applications of the Discovery BIO Wide Pore C5 are intact proteins, protein variants, antibody fragments and fast bio-RP methods.
The Discovery Series includes various material platforms and surface chemistries. In addition to classic silica-based reverse-phase columns, high-purity HS phases, pentafluorophenyl, RP-amide, and PEG selectivities, as well as zirconia-based phases, are available. Bio-Wide-Pore variants with larger pores are designed for peptides and proteins. This makes Discovery particularly well-suited for method development when standard C18 selectivity is insufficient or more robust surfaces are required.
Discovery is a registered trademark of the manufacturer Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.
