The Astec C18 HPLC column 150x4.6mm, 5µm, is based on high-purity, spherical and fully porous silica with 110 Å pore size. The surface carries an octadecyl modification (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18) and is designed for reversed-phase chromatography. With a specific surface area of 320 m²/g Astec C18 generates pronounced hydrophobic retention for non-polar to moderately polar compounds. The phase corresponds to USP L1 and can be used in the recommended pH range of 3.5 to 6.8. Typical applications of Astec C18 are pharmaceutical active ingredients, environmental contaminants, food constituents and other small organic molecules.
Astec offers several chiral selector platforms. These include coated cellulose-based phases, polymeric chiral selectors, and copper-based ligand-exchange phases. The separation mechanisms range from hydrogen bonding and steric recognition to π-interactions and chiral ligand-exchange chromatography. As a result, Astec complements the CHIROBIOTIC and CYCLOBOND phases and broadens the screening window for amino acids, amines, acids, alcohols, and pharmaceutical racemates.
