The InertSustainBio C8 HPLC column 150x4.6mm, 5µm, is based on an octylsilyl modification (also known as RP-8, C8) for reverse-phase chromatography. The C8 phase has a shorter alkyl chain than C18 and therefore exhibits lower hydrophobic interactions. As a result, InertSustainBio C8 is suitable for bioanalytical RP methods in which highly hydrophobic analytes elute faster or where retention is intentionally reduced compared to C18. The silica-based, fully porous packing material and the PEEK hardware make InertSustainBio C8 an attractive option for U(H)PLC methods where bioanalytics, low metal interaction, and short run times are important. Typical applications include peptide, protein, and drug substance analysis, LC/MS methods, and method development as an alternative to C18 phases.
The InertSustainBio series is designed for bioanalytical reverse-phase methods in which undesirable interactions with the packing material or hardware can affect peak shape, recovery, and reproducibility. The combination of high-purity silica, a controlled surface, and biocompatible hardware supports robust HPLC and UHPLC methods for peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, and related bioanalytical compounds. For effective column protection, a precolumn cartridge or precolumn with the same modification, appropriate particle size, and suitable ID should be used whenever possible.
