The Inertsil Econo Prep-ODS preparative HPLC column 500x50mm, 40µm, uses an octadecyl modification (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) for high-volume preparative reverse-phase chromatography. The 40-µm particles are designed for larger sample volumes, robust purifications, and cost-effective preparative HPLC processes. Inertsil Econo Prep-ODS is suitable for the purification of organic active ingredients, natural products, synthetic products, and fractions where classic C18 selectivity is required on a large scale. Compared to finer analytical materials, the focus here is on the balance between loading capacity, flow rate, pressure, and fraction purity.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
