The Inertsil AS HPLC column 250x4.6mm, 3µm, is a specialized octadecyl-based phase (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) for the species analysis of arsenic compounds. Inertsil AS was developed for applications in which toxicologically relevant forms of arsenic are separated in environmental water and subsequently detected, for example, using HPLC/ICP-MS. The phase combines an Inertsil C18 surface with application-specific selectivity for arsenic species. Typical areas of application include environmental analysis, water testing, residue analysis, and methods requiring the simultaneous determination of multiple arsenic compounds.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
