The Inertsil Sulfa C18 HPLC column 250x0.2mm, 5µm, is a specialized octadecyl phase (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) for reverse-phase chromatography of sulfonamides and sulfa active ingredients. Inertsil Sulfa C18 was developed for the analysis of this group of active ingredients and is tested on a batch-by-batch basis for the effective separation of sulfa components. As a result, the phase is particularly suitable for residue analysis, food analysis, pharmaceutical QC, and methods in which sulfonamide compounds must be separated reproducibly. The C18 base allows for use with typical RP eluents and supports robust peak shapes in the analysis of antibacterial active ingredients and related impurities.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
