The Waters Protein-Pak HIC HPLC-/UHPLC column 100x4.6mm, 2.5µm, is based on a polymeric HIC matrix and possesses a hydrophobic interaction surface. The Waters Protein-Pak HIC is used in hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC). The HIC phase separates proteins under native, high-salt conditions according to hydrophobic surface character. The application spectrum of the Waters Protein-Pak HIC includes protein variants, native proteins, antibody fragments, process development and laboratory-scale purification.

Protein-Pak is a heterogeneous family of bioseparation media comprising ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction, and size-exclusion materials. Hi Res Q and SP use nonporous particles to ensure short diffusion paths and high-resolution charge separations. DEAE and CM provide weak anion and cation exchangers, respectively, for milder pH-controlled methods. HIC separates proteins under non-denaturing high-salt conditions based on their surface hydrophobicity, while Protein-Pak SEC differentiates between size variants, aggregates, and fragments based on hydrodynamic volume.
