The Waters XSelect CSH C18 HPLC-/UHPLC column 50x10mm, 10µm, is based on an octadecylsilyl phase (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) on CSH hybrid particles and is designed for reversed-phase chromatography. The CSH surface improves peak shape and loading capacity for basic analytes with low-ionic, acidic mobile phases. In practice, the Waters XSelect CSH C18 is suitable, for example, for method development, LC–MS with formic acid, basic active substances, pharmaceutical QC and routine RP.
XSelect combines two deliberately different particle platforms. CSH uses a BEH hybrid framework with a controlled positive surface charge and is specifically designed to provide good peak shapes and increased loading capacity for basic compounds. HSS is based on high-strength silica and often provides stronger retention as well as different selectivities than BEH or CSH phases. C18, phenyl-hexyl, fluoro-phenyl, T3, PFP, and cyano offer a broad range of method development options; specialized peptide phases extend these concepts to bioanalytical separations.
