The Waters Sep-Pak C18 SPE cartridge is based on silica-based SPE sorbent and features an octadecylsilyl phase (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18). The primary application focus of Waters Sep-Pak C18 is reversed-phase SPE. The C18 surface is a universal hydrophobic sorbent for the enrichment and clean-up of non-polar to moderately polar analytes. In practice, Waters Sep-Pak C18 is suitable, for example, for GC, HPLC and LC–MS sample preparation, environmental samples, food analysis and organic trace compounds.
Sep-Pak includes classic silica-based SPE phases as well as inorganic adsorbents and derivatized specialty cartridges. C18, tC18, C8, CN, NH2, and Diol cover different polarity and selectivity ranges. Silica, alumina, and Florisil operate primarily through adsorption mechanisms, whereas DNPH-Silica chemically derivatizes and subsequently retains carbonyl compounds. The wide selection of cartridge sizes allows sample volume, sorbent quantity, and required capacity to be tailored to the specific workflow.
Sep-Pak is a registered trademark of Waters Corporation, Milford, Massachusetts, USA.
