The Waters Symmetry C8 HPLC column 100x4.6mm, 5µm, is based on an octylsilyl phase (other designations: RP-8, C8) on high-purity silica and is used primarily in reversed-phase chromatography. The C8 phase offers general RP selectivity with shorter retention than Symmetry C18. Compared with C18 phases, Waters Symmetry C8 exhibits lower hydrophobic retention, allowing very hydrophobic compounds to elute more quickly.Applications of Waters Symmetry C8 include faster routine analysis, very hydrophobic analytes, pharmaceutical methods and method optimisation.
