The Waters SymmetryShield RP18 HPLC column 20x3.9mm, 5µm, is built on high-purity silica and features an embedded polar group in an octadecylsilyl phase (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18). The Waters SymmetryShield RP18 is intended for use in reversed-phase chromatography. The Shield technology shields residual silanols and improves peak shape of basic compounds at neutral pH. Typical applications of the Waters SymmetryShield RP18 include basic pharmaceuticals, polar RP analytes, methods with aqueous mobile phases and selectivity alternatives to C18.

Symmetry300 uses a wide-pore 300 Å silica and extends the series to peptides, proteins, and other larger biomolecules.
