The Waters Symmetry300 C4 HPLC column 150x2.1mm, 5µm, is built on wide-pore 300 Å silica and features a butyl (C4) modification. The primary application focus of Waters Symmetry300 C4 is reversed-phase chromatography. The short alkyl chain reduces hydrophobic binding and is suitable for larger, more hydrophobic proteins. In practice, Waters Symmetry300 C4 is suitable, for example, for protein analysis, peptide and protein fractions, intact proteins and biopharmaceutical characterisation.

Additional Notes

Symmetry is based on high-purity silica and strictly controlled manufacturing and packing specifications. The classic C18 and C8 phases are designed to minimize unwanted silanol interactions and ensure reproducible peak shapes. In SymmetryShield, a polar group is embedded in the alkyl phase, which alters the selectivity and behavior of basic analytes compared to conventional alkyl phases. Symmetry300 uses a wide-pore 300 Å silica and extends the series to peptides, proteins, and other larger biomolecules.
