The Waters Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry pre-column cartridges 20x3.9mm, 5µm, are used before Symmetry Shield RP18 HPLC columns. For 3.9mm Sentry cartridges the holder WAT046910 is used.

Symmetry is based on high-purity silica and strictly controlled manufacturing and packing specifications. The classic C18 and C8 phases are designed to minimize unwanted silanol interactions and ensure reproducible peak shapes. In SymmetryShield, a polar group is embedded in the alkyl phase, which alters the selectivity and behavior of basic analytes compared to conventional alkyl phases. Symmetry300 uses a wide-pore 300 Å silica and extends the series to peptides, proteins, and other larger biomolecules.
