The Waters XBridge BEH C18 HPLC/UHPLC column 150x3.0mm, 2.5µm, is based on an octadecylsilyl phase (other designations: ODS, RP-18, C18) on BEH hybrid particles and is designed for reversed-phase chromatography. The hybrid matrix is designed for very wide pH flexibility, high temperature stability and robust method development. In practice, the Waters XBridge BEH C18 is suitable, for example, for universal RP-HPLC, active pharmaceutical ingredient analysis, LC-MS methods, high-pH method development and method transfer.
XBridge columns use ethylene-bridged hybrid particles in which organic bridges are incorporated into the inorganic backbone. This material architecture expands the usable pH range compared to conventional silica and enables robust methods even in the strongly alkaline range. The product family includes reverse-phase, shield, and phenyl-selective columns, as well as HILIC and amide-phase columns and wide-pore materials for peptides, proteins, glycans, and oligonucleotides. Identical chemistries across different particle sizes facilitate transfer between HPLC, UHPLC, and preparative formats.
