QuEChERS Pesticide II was developed for particularly challenging plant matrices such as tea, spices and hops. These samples often contain high concentrations of colourants, essential oils and other co-extracted constituents that can heavily burden chromatographic systems and mass spectrometers. The matrix-specific sorbent combination of the QuEChERS Pesticide II push-through SPE column therefore offers a more intensive clean-up than the classic fruit and vegetable variant. At the same time the recoveries of a broad pesticide spectrum are intended to be maintained. QuEChERS Pesticide II is available as a manual column and as a FREESTYLE-compatible automation version and is suitable for routine multi-residue analyses of complex plant products.

Additional Notes

The QuEChERS Pesticide columns adapt the standard dispersive QuEChERS cleanup to a solid-phase flow-through format. The extract is passed through a sorbent combination tailored to the matrix class; the exact composition of the packing is not generally disclosed by the manufacturer. Since no loose sorbent is added to the extract, the additional shaking and centrifugation steps are eliminated. This improves the standardization of the workflow and reduces the carryover of matrix residues into LC-MS/MS or GC-MS systems. The choice between Pesticide I, II, and III depends on the presence of pigments, fats, and other matrix contaminants.
