The Benson BP-100 H HPLC column 300x7.8mm is an H-shaped phase based on sulphonated styrene-divinylbenzene. The Benson BP-100 H is used for ion-exclusion chromatography and is particularly suitable for organic acids, fermentation products and related polar compounds. The H-shape ensures that weak organic acids and neutral co-eluting components can be separated by means of ion exclusion, distribution and size effects. Typical applications for the Benson BP-100 H column include fermentation control, food analysis, beverage analysis and process monitoring.
Benson columns are based on sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene polymers with various counterions and degrees of cross-linking. The BP-100 series is typically associated with 6% cross-linking, while the BP-700 and BP-800 series represent more highly cross-linked variants designed for different selectivity and robustness requirements. Depending on the counterion, sugars, sugar alcohols, organic acids, or alcoholic byproducts are separated. Calcium, lead, sodium, potassium, and silver forms are primarily used for carbohydrates; H forms are typically used for organic acids, fermentation products, and related ion-exclusion chromatography applications.
Benson is a brand name of the manufacturer Concise Separations, San Jose, USA.
