Sample Preparation
Sample preparation is an important step in chemical analysis. It is used to purify or enrich substances from more or less complex mixtures of substances. The aim is to convert the analytes into a homogeneous solution so that they can then be analysed using various instrumental analysis techniques, such as liquid or gas chromatography. In the simplest case, filtration is sometimes sufficient as a sample preparation step. In complicated cases, several extraction, drying and filtration steps may be necessary to get the sample to be analysed into the desired form or to isolate it as a pure substance.
