The PerfectSil 300 C8 column 250x20mm, 10µm, is an octasilyl column (other designations: OS, RP-8, C8) for reversed phase chromatography. The hydrophobic interactions of the PerfectSil 300 C8 are significantly lower than those of the PerfectSil 300 C18, but still higher than those of the PerfectSil 300 C4. This makes the column a good choice when retention on the C18 column takes too long, but retention on the C4 column is too short. The 300Å pores allow unhindered access to the pore system for large molecules. This phase is therefore used in the separation of proteins, large peptides and even large natural substances.
The PerfectSil 300 series was specially developed for the separation of biomolecules. The 300Å pores allow proteins to penetrate the pore system. This enables small peptides through to complex proteins to be separated and retained on the PerfectSil 300 columns. The high-purity silica gel and stable modification also allow use in LC/MS. The service life can be increased by using suitable pre-column cartridges.
