The PerfectChrom 100 NH2 HPLC column 100x3.9mm, 5µm, is an amino-phase column for normal-phase and reverse-phase chromatography and, depending on the pH value, also for ion-exchange chromatography. With a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile with a low water content, HILIC can also be performed using this column. The amino groups on the PerfectChrom 100 NH2 enable the formation of hydrogen bonds, thereby providing alternative selectivity compared to C18 phases. In HILIC mode, carbohydrates (sugar analysis) can be separated. Analysis of lipids and fatty acid esters in the normal-phase mode is also possible. Due to its weak ion-exchange properties, organic acids or phosphate compounds can also be analyzed.
The PerfectChrom series is based on a Type A silica gel. This means that some transition metals are present in the silica framework. As a result, the silanol groups are more acidic, which can lead to different interactions compared to modern Type B silica gels. The service life can be extended by using appropriate pre-column cartridges.
