Nardis columns from Imtakt are mixed-mode columns. Depending on the phase, two different retention mechanisms have a parallel influence on the separation, which can facilitate difficult separations on a standard column.
Nardis ND-NX consists of a silica particle that is modified with anion and cation exchangers. This creates a mixture of normal phase and ion exchange. However, the phase is not intended to separate anions and cations in parallel. At low pH values, acidic analytes are retarded, which can be eluted with increasing pH or ionic strength. At neutral pH values, basic analytes are retarded and these can be eluted again with a lower pH or a higher ionic strength.
Nardis ND-RX is also based on a silica particle, which in turn is modified with anion and cation exchangers. In addition to these ion exchangers, a phenyl modification is also present. This gives the phase reversed phase and ion exchange properties. As with the Nardis ND-NX, acidic analytes are retarded at low pH values and basic analytes at neutral pH values.
Nardis NF-PFP/Biphenyl carries PFP and biphenyl groups on the silica particle. This results in a reversed phase column with special properties that differ from a standard phenyl phase.
